hi Jason , thanks for the interest. I am still coming up empty in my research. I havent as of yet been able to find out anything. The only reference I have found to a blue deer is a legend of a blue deer. Apparently it took place in the early 1900"s and one of the wealthy Rockefellers was involved.
He offered a reward in the neighborhood of $100,00 for the person who brought him the Blue deer . As it turns out ( at least in my opinion ) It was nothing more than a land scam perpetrated on those who rushed to the area where the deer had been seen , to collect the reward.
Other than the legend , I have been told by my taxidermist that the deer is some form of melanistic ( black ) deer, and by another local man who is a contract trapper said the same thing . None of the hunters Ive talked to have seen anything like him.
Their was a black 7 point Buck
killed last year about 50 yds from where the Blue Buck was taken.

Ive already read that article , its one of the most informative on the subject I have found. If you google melanistic deer , you will see many variations of the black coloration.
Some are pitch black like the 7 point killed lat year where I hunt, others are kinda chocolate and still others are kinda charcoal. As far as I can tell at this point a blue variation isnt included in any information on melanistic deer. I will keep searching , but Im already running out of sources , at some point I may inquire at my State Fish and Game Department.
