Missouri-based organization has chapters nationwide
BUFFALO, Mo. — The Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation (QUWF) has announced a new insurance program designed to cover owned, rented, or borrowed equipment used on chapter habitat projects. This coverage provides QUWF chapters protection against damage or loss to equipment used in developing wildlife habitat, including towing vehicles, trailers, and the equipment on trailers.
"This takes away personal or chapter liability," says Craig Alderman, director of QUWF. Referred to in the industry as "inland marine" coverage, the new policy will cover replacement value (up to five years old) of owned, rented, or borrowed equipment as long as it is listed on the chapter's equipment schedule.
"From tractors to drills and sprayers, our chapters can now economically insure their equipment under a policy developed for QUWF," Alderman explains. "As much as $25,000 in equipment can be insured for $150, whether rented, leased, or borrowed. If they own or need more coverage, the policy will expand to cover the amount they have with appropriate rates developed for each chapter."
QUWF chapters can download applicable forms from the "Tool Shed" on the QUWF website, www.quwf.net, which includes an application and rate calculator, equipment schedule list, and coverage outline. Once submitted, the insurance coverage will begin for the chapter and last one year.
Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, Inc., is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) conservation organization designed to provide a strong local source of habitat development for quail and upland wildlife.
