One of the eastern most populations of Yellowstone cutthroat trout in Montana is in Crooked Creek in the Pryor Mountains, south of Billings. To preserve habitat for these fish, FWP removed brown trout from this creek and then created a fish barrier to prevent future encroachment by other fish species that might out-compete the Yellowstone cutthroat trout for food and space.
