The Northern Cheyenne Tribe and Rosebud Battlefield Committee will unveil a plaque recognizing the Rosebud Battlefield site as a National Historic Landmark on June 17 at 10 AM. The ceremony will occur during the 134 th anniversary of the Battle of the Rosebud. The battlefield was designated a National Historic Landmark in August 2008 by Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne. Being declared a National Historic Landmark is no small feat.
