State biologists conducted a population estimate for trout and whitefish in the Sluice Boxes section of Belt Creek. Fish, Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologist Grant Grisak reported 290 rainbow trout per mile, 162 brown trout per mile and 117 mountain whitefish per mile. The largest fish sampled was a brown trout 22.3 inches long, weighing 3.7 pounds.
