There were a number of interesting attendees at our West Coast session of Some up from Nevada, some down from Washington, and a number right there from gold ole California. Two I found particularly interesting were April Dias and Paula Wilson.

Unlike most attendees, these two ladies had no club or range affiliation. Instead, they were there as Friends of NRA volunteers.

“I don’t know if I can really be called a volunteer anymore,” quipped Paula. “My husband has been working for the NRA for about 16 years so attending related events is just second nature.”

But not every event is like Club U. All the information a growing club, range, or association needs to make the most out of their organization.

“It’s been great,” said Paula. “I came because whenever we are at an event, my husband is usually busy helping several people at once. I like to be able to jump and share as much information as possible. After today, I will be the information queen.”

So what was the main reason for attending Club U? “The grants,” April proclaimed. “I wanted to learn how the grants are distributed and how recipients are picked. A lot of people apply and I thought it would be helpful to get some insight into how that all worked.”

And did it work?

“Very much so, it puts everything into perspective.”

Paula added, “Now I have all the information without having to bug the old man.”
