Deer and Elk harvest in northwest Montana is lagging behind last year’s totals at most Region One check stations. At the six check stations through Sunday, November 8, a total of 11,136 hunters checked 481 white-tailed deer, 80 mule deer, and 101 elk for a 5.9 percent rate of hunters with game. This compares to a 6.5 percent rate of hunters with game last year.
