Thanks to Nicole McMahon for the following breaking news:

As of October 17, the Friends of NRA program has reached a milestone $17 million raised, surpassing its total net revenue of $15.9 million in 2008. To date, Friends of NRA has held about 980 events with nearly 190,000 attendees.

Two events occurring in the same state, same day, and same time broke the barrier. The Arizona Friends of NRA events on October 17, Chiricahua Area and Yuma, had a combined total of approximately 490 attendees and $43,400 in net income.

All net proceeds from Friends of NRA events benefit The NRA Foundation, with half allocated to fund projects within the state where the money was raised. The NRA Foundation uses the other half to fund similar projects with a national scope. Organizations that receive funding promote the shooting sports dedicated to youth and women’s programs, law enforcement, and range development among others.

With over 100 events to go before the year ends, the Friends of NRA expects to finish out the year stronger than ever and break even more records in the process.

“I am very excited about our accomplishment,” NRA Senior Field Representative Jason Quick said. Quick is the top netting field representative in the entire country, raising more than $1 million in his own area of Central California. “I believe that this is only the beginning and project in the near future we will be raising over $25 million.”
