Harvest of elk and deer was very slow during the third week of the 2009 general big game season in southwest Montana. Overall 4.4 percent of hunters checked game through the six check stations with 45 elk, 31 mule deer, and 7 white-tailed deer. The Ruby and Cameron check stations checked the most elk at 11 animals each.
