Little Sacagewea takes a shot

Thanks to Women On Target clinic director Stephen Kolcinski of Minnesota for sharing this report from his recent event at the Dakota County Gun Club:

Our Clinic was an overwhelming success with 18 participants. They all left smiling. We got started late because of bad weather. We started with a continental breakfast (provided by people from one of the local Cowboy Action clubs) with the NRA's Eddie Eagle video playing in the background.

We went through the NRA First Steps Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun focusing on 19th century cowboy guns. We had a working lunch of home made soups, provided by a local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. The practical shooting part was a Cowgirl Action Shoot, but with the cold weather, we were only able to complete one stage.

The ladies still enjoyed that. Two of them had never pulled the trigger on a gun before. We took lots of photos through out the day, and after the shoot we took group photos in front of the different banners. After the group photos we had a barbeque dinner of burgers, hotdogs, chips and pop, provided by Dakota County Gun Club's Lone Rock Rangers.

... I received a request to do this Clinic again in the spring and next fall. I believe doing a Clinic with a theme like Cowgirl shoot greatly enhanced the enjoyment of all the participants as well as the instructors.

Above, NRA Deputy Executive Director Andrea Cerwinske (also known as Little Sacagawea in the Cowboy Action world) enjoyed participating in End Of Trail this year. Read her report here.

Remember, we welcome your first-hand report if you attend one of NRA's Women On Target clinics! E-mail GOblog@nrahq.org.
